July 31, 2010 – Summer Cookout – Jay Ortiz
This year my annual summer cookout is on July 31st. It’s normally the second week of July but when I went to reserve the park in the first week of February, there was only one day left and one spot left in July. Lucky for me it was the spot I wanted at least. Britannia has represented every year so far. Special thanks to Bro. Patrick Healy for coming every year and bringing other brothers from the local NJ Lodges. And John and Geoffrey Leigh for coming and bringing their families. This year I just ask for people to bring a dish. And if you can’t make a dish then bottled water will be fine. Anything will help; chips or wine or beer. Or even more importantly, ICE….
We will be in Rahway River Park. It’s not a really big park so it shouldn’t be hard to find us. I will wrap a sign around a tree near the road that goes around the park. We will be to the right of the pool as you’re driving around the park. Bring your family and friends. I’ll have a lot of family and friends from old jobs and school. It’s a fun time.

Had a great time it is good to be among friends and brothers
Thank you Brother Jay for your generous hospitality. The party was a huge success from what I could tell. I am trying to figure out if the highlight of the afternoon was the potato sack race or the ribs. Both were quite entertaining. It has been a privilege getting to know you and your crew. I am looking forward to the fall.
Jay, as you know I'm in Europe, but I wish you all a great Cookout. Unacquainted as I am with this modern medium, I can't promise to use it all the time, so I hope Brs still contact me by email! But I did want to thank Patrick publically for getting the secured part of our website up and running so well. If I figured it out, everyone can, so long may it flourish, Finn
Ah thanks Finn. I really appreciate that. I hope that we will be able to use this as more of a public and private thing. This post for example is public however you can create posts that are for members who have logged in and have the appropriate credentials.
A nice feature is that we can reply to one another's messages like this and it is pretty clear. Give it a whirl!
Bro Jay, I wish I could make it. I’ll be in Virginia with the Boy Scouts at the 2010 National Jamboree. I’m sure you’re cookout will be the bomb!!
I'll be there!
